November Membership Survey Results

Thank you to all members who completed last month’s membership survey! We love to hear what you enjoy about your Y experience in addition to what we can do to continuously improve it!

Here are the top things we heard that you love about the Y...

1. Friendly, Caring and Helpful Staff

2. Atmosphere

3. Convenience (hours, locations)

Here are a couple of snippets of your comments:

“A good place for the whole family. Lots of variety and convenient locations!”

“I cherish the relationships I have built with the members and staff of the Y. These daily interactions make me want to be a healthier person and I look forward to my time at the Y each day. It's more than a place to get physically fit. When you walk into the building, you are immediately greeted by a friendly face and that motivates you to want to come back, because you know people at the Y care.”

“The YMCA offers me the opportunity for a convenient workout, interactions with professionals on a different level, and growth opportunities for my family. It is the place to be."

How we do it:

Relationship building is the core of what we do at the Y.   We consistently strive to hire only those individuals that have that innate ability to connect with others.  Once hired, all staff are held accountable to high expectations exemplifying what we call S.M.A.R.T  service every time they come to work.

S- Smile and Say Hello to everyone person you come in contact with

M- Meet, Greet, and Make Welcome all kids and adults by knowing their names

A- Accountability is Yours-  “you see it, you own it” is the Y mantra to help keep our facilities safe and welcoming

R- Relationship building is Key- #1 job function for all staff

T- Take time to say Thanks to all who have chosen to spend part of their day at the YMCA

Here are the top things we heard that you would like us to address...

1. Membership Rates and Program Fees

2. Class options, Scheduling and Times of classes

3. Youth Sports Registration

Here’s what we are doing:

Membership Rates and Program Fees

Understanding the economic pressures that individuals and families are facing, we can assure you that we will NOT be increasing program fees for group fitness classes or your membership rates in 2012.

We want to make sure the Y remains a part of you and you a part of our Y family. With that, we have created our income based pricing model (Membership For All) to ensure the Y stays affordable and accessible to everyone. We invite you to meet with us to discuss your personal circumstances if your membership becomes an issue of affordability.

Hopefully this fall you experienced more value to your membership with group cycling classes becoming a value-added (free with membership) program. In addition, fees for Body Fit and Yoga classes were lowered. Overall, our goal is to ensure we are providing programming of the highest value, quality and meeting the needs of our members. This spring we will continue to add value to our group exercise offerings so be sure to stay posted for this exciting news!

Other areas we have been evaluating are our youth programming, specifically for the 7-12 year olds. The Youth, Teen and Family Department will remain an area of focus for us as we head into 2012. We have put a Youth & Family Calendar together which lists all programs for youth and families that are value-added. We are confident we will have some exciting changes as we go into the new year.

At the Y we strive to provide you with high quality staff, facilities, programs and equipment. Your membership provides access to 4 convenient locations with such amenities as state-of-the-art exercise equipment, pools, basketball and racquetball courts, indoor running tracks, saunas, whirlpools and more. Plus, the AWAY (Always Welcome At The Y) Program allows you access to Ys everywhere...that's over 2300 Ys across the country!

Youth Sports Registration

In regards to Improvements to the Youth Sports registration process we have some updates to share:

-In house registration will be limited to two nights however registration is open at any of our four Centers.

-After the in house registration, registrants can go online for one week to register (ideally, they will already have a reversible jersey from a previous youth sport).

-After the online deadline, registrants will need to contact the Youth Sports department to register.

Again, we sincerely appreciate your feedback and are committed to providing you with the best experience possible.
