Being involved with the YMCA started with my family and I before I was even born. My parents met at the YMCA. As we grew up, my parents introduced my sister Michelle and I to swimming, where we learned to swim. After couple years of swimming I was introduced to gymnastics at the Downtown YMCA and I loved it! I’ve been on the gymnastics team since I was 10 years old. I am now 14 and a level 8 gymnast. Doing gymnastics I have gained confidence, strength, self-esteem, being a team leader, and being a supportive teammate.
Going to meets are extremely fun and exciting. I get to spend time with my teammates. Participating in gymnastics has gotten me stronger. I can run faster because we work the muscles in our core. I’m also stronger and can run faster than most of the boys in my grade. Not if gymnastics fun, but it keeps you in shape.
In the future, I would like to become a coach. Being a coach, I will be able to help other gymnasts reach their full potential. I also want to be a college gymnastics. It looks so fun and challenging.
As you can see, I think I will be involved with gymnastics for the rest of my life.
