Our Cause:
At the Y, stengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side by side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
Last year, the Greater Green Bay YMCA provided over $1.9 million in scholarships and program subsidies. Community donations to the annual Strong Kids Campaign go directly toward providing scholarships to those in need and subsidizing our youth and community development programs. Every dollar raised stays right in your community.
Strong Kids funds help the YMCA subsidize the following programs in 2010:
Swim Smart - A free program for over 300 2nd graders at 7 at-risk schools allowing them to gain confidence in the water along with water safety instruction.
21C After School Program- Provides a safe and supportive after school environment for children to develop and realize their potential.
YKlub & Y Night - A positive, chaperoned, recreational program for over 600 youth every Friday night.
Special Populations- Weekly activities which provide a sense of belonging and social interaction for approximately 60 cognitively and physically disabled individuals.
Youth Programs - Swimming, gymnastics, preschool gym & swim, youth sports, and many other programs. Nearly 20,000 youth annually participate in positive and fun activities that nurture the development of their athletic, social and interpersonal skills.
Girls' Night Out - Focuses on emotional well-being, self-esteem, and recreational activities for 6th grade females to help foster a strong sense of self-identity that will lead to mature and safe choices in their lives.
Camp - Over 6,200 campers were able to explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories last summer.
Membership - Assisted 30% more individuals and families giving them the opportunity to belong at the Y, giving them a safe, fun and healthy environment to learn, grow and thrive.
Together, We Make A Difference
Financial assistance keeps the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.
When someone makes a gift to the Y, they make a meaningful, enduring impact right in their own neighborhood.
