Sara Embrey pic
Sara joins the Green Bay Y with credentials in group exercise including a BS in Kinesiology from UW-Milwaukee. Previously part of the Greater Milwaukee YMCA association, Sara has six years in fitness, with experience as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, Wellness Manager, and Director of Group Exercise.

Sara brings to Green Bay a wealth of expertise and connections in the fitness industry. “I really want to create a Group Exercise culture and build that small community within the Green Bay Y. We will become better known as an industry leader as we begin bringing more trainings for area instructors to town,” says Sara.  The Y welcomes motivated staff like Sara who are continuously striving to improve the experience for our members with our group exercise programs. Our goal is to provide consistently challenging programs with choreography that applies appropriate science along with musicality to get fresh routines for body fit (now Group Power), kickboxing and more. Sara states, “Ultimately the only thing noticeable for the member is that our routines are fun and fresh, but underlying, we will have consistency between instructors and intensity of our workouts!”

Watch for Sara to pump up the promotion of the experts inside the Y. “I came from Milwaukee where our Y focused a lot on Personal Training. I know we can majorly impact people with the Personal Training professionals we have on board. We need to let members and the general public know that we offer this outstanding program and that we have certified professionals in these positions. Lives are changed every day inside the Y. Some people need the accountability and expertise of a personal trainer, to either challenge them to reach new heights or to monitor their return to excersie.

What does Sara really want to accomplish in Green Bay? “I want to meet people and hear what people want from their Y Group Exercise experience. I want to share my fitness knowledge in a new community and to learn from this community.” One little-known fact about Sara is that she was born in Anchorage, Alaska and grew up in Wasilla! If she doesn’t beat you to it, introduce yourself to Sara and say hello next time you see her.

So one might wonder, what exercise is a favorite for a group exercise director? Sara answers, "I do it all! But I really love Zumba!"
