Active Older Adults
If you are 55 or older, join the Active Older Adults for socializing and active fun!
Our Active Older Adult (AOA) programs are designed for men and women in their 50s and older. We encourage everyone to grow in the areas of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Our active adult exercise classes promote fitness and well-being while fostering friendships and camaraderie. Our volunteer opportunities and social events help build lasting relationships and community ties that last a lifetime. Contact the AOA Coordinator at a location near you and join in on the fun.
Joint Movement AOA ages 14+
This 45-minute class held in the warm water is non-impact and focuses on range of motion, gentle stretching, balance and postural awareness. This Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Exercise based class is ideal for people of all ages who suffer from Arthritis, muscular and joint discomfort, or recovering from a hip or knee injury. Come and see how this class can complement your current routine or get you started in reaching those fitness goals.
Line Dancing AOA ages 14+
This 90-minute class for all levels includes an introduction to steps, warm up, cardiovascular dancing to fun country music and a cool down.
Intro to Line Dancing also offered. This 30-minute beginner’s class includes an introduction to steps and breaks down simple choreography to fun music. It will prepare participants for the regular Line Dancing Class.
This class is a 45-minute energetic, effective low impact and varied intensity aerobic class for those who like to move but don't want to bounce.
Sit & Be Fit AOA ages 14+
This 45-minute class will allow you to move with music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living in this Active Older Adults (AOA) class. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a small exercise balls are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Gentle Water AOA ages 14+
This 45-minute class offers lots of fun, shallow-water movements to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance with little to no-impact. A variety of equipment including water dumbbells and a kickboard are used to improve strength, balance and coordination.
Chair Yoga AOA ages 14+
This 45-minute class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Join our Active Older Adults 10+ Club!
Are you looking for a little extra motivation to come to the Y and stay active? Then the Active Older Adults 10+ Club is for you! Pick up a punch card from the front desk, and get your card punched every time you scan in at the Y. Once you have 10 punches, your card will be entered into a drawing for a $10 gift certificate! One or two winners will be drawn at each center at the first Coffee Time of the month. Feel free to stop in or call for more details.
We also invite you to join our Member Fitness Challenges! Whether you prefer to walk, swim or cycle, we have a club with a fitness challenge for you! Choose your favorite way to move at any Green Bay YMCA Center, track and earn prizes between January 1 - December 31, 2018.
