My Y Story...

Jim

Jim was a successful athlete training for an Ironman Triathlon when his life forever changed in 1992. He was hit by car while on a cycling training ride. The accident left him in a coma for 6 months, he had part of his temporal lobe removed and his left side was permanently paralyzed. His doctors said that only one percent of traumatic head injured victims like him survive. Jim’s inner and physical strength helped him be that one percent. Being told he might not be able to walk again, Jim was determined to not only walk again but be able to compete in races. With Jim’s commitment and dedication lead him to working out 7 days a week at the Y and has competed in many area races including the Bellin Run and the Cellcom Marathon. Jim’s ultimate goal is to one day be able to complete in an Ironman again. Jim
