Tim Sleeter, WEST SIDE
Certified Personal Trainer - ACE | TRX Certified Trainer - Level 2
AREA OF SPECIALTY:
TRX suspension training, small group training, functional strength training, youth athletics, and basketball training.
With the Green Bay YMCA since 2017.
My philosophy centers around functional or “transferable” strength. I use these techniques in training 13-14 year olds all the way up to members that are in their 60s and 70s. These practices (along with healthy nutrition choices) will help everyone to live healthier lifestyle, and promote longevity and quality of life. On top of that, incorporating these movements can also be great training tools when preparing for running and multi-sport events, youth athletics, obstacle races, and many others.
MY PASSION FOR FITNESS COMES FROM:
About 12 years ago, I was a freshman boys’ basketball coach at a local high school in Green Bay. I was also preparing to obtain my teaching degree. I was 36 years old, 6’3” tall, and was nearing 300 lbs. Having a history of diabetes in the men of my family, my doctor said that, if I didn’t make a change soon, life wouldn’t be pleasant by the time I was 40. I started making better nutritional choices and began a structured exercise routine for the first time in over 10 years. I went back for my physical in October of 2016, and had lost 60 lbs. My health problems were gone, and I’d never felt better. I started part-time with the YMCA in June of 2017, and am now a full time employee. I’ve never been healthier or happier.
MY PROUDEST MOMENT WITH A CLIENT:
Watching a client learn and progress through their form and technique. When we work on technique on a weekly basis, and they pick up little changes that gradually improve their form, it’s a true testament to their work and dedication to their progression. It’s a fun change to watch.
MY FAVORITE QUOTE OR MOTIVATIONAL SAYING:
“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” – Thomas Jefferson
