Making Amazing Kids Stronger
Cancer Survivor Program for Children
#maks is a program designed for the unique physical, social and emotional needs of pediatric cancer survivors. This program held one evening each week for 8-weeks. The Y's #maks program engages the entire family with companion programs for siblings and parents/guardians – everyone in the child’s world is part of their journey! Each week we will have team building, social time, physical component, social emotional theme and a healthy snack.
Through our 8 weeks together, we will explore and grow in the following realms:
- Confidence & Self-acceptance
- Motivation & Encouragement
- Physical Health & Wellness
- Social Emotional Learning
- Fun & Friendships!
The #maks program is held in a safe, clean and nurturing environment. Activities are facilitated by a team of Y staff with experience and expertise in health & wellness, personal training, youth development and the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA initiative. Our program was developed in collaboration with health care providers in an effort to make sure that it meets the needs of each child.
