Youth Sports Volleyball Program
Co-Ed Fundamental Volleyball
Originally called mintonette, volleyball was created by the YMCA. An experimental game, mintonette combined a variation of the badminton net with elements of basketball, the German game of fistball and handball.
Emphasis is on teaching the values of good sportsmanship, teamwork, goal setting and skill development in a fun, esteem-promoting atmosphere. Children will have the opportunity to build skills by learning the basic volleyball fundamentals such as overhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging in a non-competitive environment.
Program offered to: Ages 6-12
Your child will need:
- YMCA Youth Sports jersey (available at all 4 YMCA’s for purchase price of $15)
- Good pair of athletic shoes
Locations may include: Broadview YMCA, East Side YMCA, Ferguson Family YMCA
Our 45 minute co-ed youth volleyball program takes place on Saturday mornings; times may vary week to week.
