At the Y, a volunteer is anyone who performs a task at the direction and the behalf of the Y without compensation or special member discounts. Here is a list of frequently asked questions about volunteering at the Y!
Who can volunteer at the Y?
Anyone, ages 14 or older, can volunteer at the Y. At the Y, we look for volunteers with a passion to strengthen our community. All program volunteers must complete an application and criminal background check prior to beginning volunteer service.
How do I volunteer at the Y?
Browse our current opportunities. Complete a volunteer application (applications are also available to be sent through the mail). Within a few days of receiving your application, the Y's volunteer coordinator will contact you by phone and conduct a brief phone screening. Once the Y has a better idea of how your talents and skills can be put to use, we will look to place you in the right position. A Y staff member will setup a time to meet you in person and a final determination will be made about your volunteer service. This process can take a few days, but sometimes it can take a few months. Again, our cause is strengthening our community and it's our goal to make sure that all Y staff and volunteers are high quality.
Do you accept groups of volunteers?

I want to get involved, but I don't know what I can do?

I don't have a lot of time, can I still volunteer?
Yes! Many of the Y's opportunities only require an hour a week of your time. Also, our special event volunteer opportunities require only a few hours every few months. Watch the opportunities page to sign-up for special event volunteer opportunities.
Do you offer training before I begin my volunteer service?
Absolutely! We offer a expansive orientation covering our Volunteer Policy, Code of Conduct, and on-site training to all volunteers in an on-going opportuntiy. We take the safety and well-being of all our members and the youth we serve seriously and volunteers in our organization play a large role in providing a safe and nurturing setting.
