While cutting down our family Christmas tree In November of 2014, I lost my husband Adrian to a massive heart attack at the age of 45. The devastation brought to me and my small children, only 6, 4, and 1, was incomprehensible. As a stay-at-home mom, we were not only suffering the emotional stress of losing the man we love, but the sudden financial stress as well. The Y immediately reached out to us, reminding me that we are part of their family. They assured me my children would continue to be enriched through classes and that I would be able to take care of myself physically, while not adding any financial burden. The fact that I didn't have to ask, that they reached out and did such a wonderful thing in my deepest moment of despair, is something I will always carry in my heart. My children and I have worked hard to put our life back together and I will always be grateful to the YMCA and its donors who make support like this possible for helping us heal in spirit, mind and body.
