Program Volunteers - this could be an instructor or leaders of a group, class, or team. Program volunteers work with Y staff to provide programs, services and activities to members.

Philanthropy Volunteers - take an active role in raising funds for annual and capital campaigns to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community.

Board Volunteers - serve as the voice of the community to the Y as a Board Member or committee member.

Event Volunteers - assist the Y in event needs like Halloween at the Y, Block Party, or Fore the Kids Annual Golf Outing. Or volunteer to help with special community events that give back to the Y, such as the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, Turkey Trot, or Lambeau Field concessions. 

The Greater Green Bay YMCA has five branch locations in the Green Bay area. Additionally, we have two camps in the northern part of Wisconsin. Volunteer opportunities are available at most locations throughout the year.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application as their first step.

Next, applicants will complete a one-way video interview. Through this process we will learn more about you, your skill set and ensure that any volunteer experience we place you in will be a positive one for all!

A criminal background (if 18 years or older) will be required for all applicants.

Additionally, a reference check may be required for those who are assisting within our programs and camps and are working directly with our members. We require two professional references and one personal.

Finally, all applicants will be required to review and sign a volunteer placement offer which includes reviewing our Volunteer Handbook, Child Safety Handbook, Volunteer Code of Conduct and Wisconsin Concussion Fact Sheet.

We ask that all volunteers be at least 14 years old. Some Special Events may require that volunteers be of a certain age.

Any volunteers under the age of 18 must have written consent of a parent or guardian prior to volunteering.

All volunteers, regardless of age, will be under the supervision of a Y staff member who is over the age of 18.

No, you do not need to be a member of the Y in order to volunteer with us. We welcome members and non-members to get involved in their community through volunteering.
