Facility Policies

Member and Guest Access

  • All members must present their membership card at the Member Service Desk each time they enter.
  • Guests must register and show photo ID at the Member Service Desk to gain access to the facility.
  • Members and guests aged 7 and under must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver in the facility, unless participating in an organized program. This includes racquetball courts and gymnasiums.
  • Members and guests aged 8 and older may use the YMCA facility without a parent/caregiver. The YMCA is not responsible for these individuals unless they are enrolled in and participating in an organized YMCA program.
  • Everyone is expected to behave respectfully and caringly towards others.
  • The Y reserves the right to take photographs of members and guests participating in YMCA activities for promotional purposes.
  • Members and guests must identify themselves to staff when asked.

Safety and Responsibility

  • The Y is not responsible for any accidents. All individuals participate at their own risk. Please immediately report any accident or emergency to the Member Service Desk. Our staff is trained to assist in emergency situations.
  • Service animals that are trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability are allowed in our facilities. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not considered service animals under the ADA and are not allowed in our facilities. Pets and all other species of animals are not allowed.

Alcohol and Drugs Policy

  • All Greater Green Bay YMCA locations are drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free facilities. Please refrain from smoking and vaping on or around all Greater Green Bay YMCA premises.

Child Watch Policies

  • Parents MUST remain at the same YMCA Center as their child(ren) while utilizing Child Watch.
  • Child Watch is designed for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years old. Older children are welcome, but please remember the environment is for younger children.
  • No snacks are permitted in Child Watch. Sippy/no-spill cups may be brought in and must be labeled with the child’s name. Labeled bottles can be given per your request and must be prepared by you ahead of time.
  • If a child experiences a long period of adjustment (i.e., continued crying after being comforted for 10-15 minutes), the staff will contact you to return to comfort your child or remove them from Child Watch.
  • If a child’s behavior is inappropriate for group interaction, the parent will be notified. For extreme behavior, the YMCA reserves the right to ask that a child not return for a specified period of time.
  • Parents must furnish supplies in a LABELED bag. If not completely toilet trained, please use a pull-up, diaper, etc., and include wipes, extra pants, etc. Your child will not be allowed to stay in Child Watch without the appropriate supplies.
  • Shoes must be worn in Child Watch, except for non-walkers. During winter months when boots are worn and shoes are forgotten, boots will be worn.

Pool Policies

  • Children ages 7 and under must be accompanied in the water by a guardian (age 16+) at all times when using a YMCA swimming pool, unless participating in an organized, supervised program such as swim lessons. The ratio of children under age 7 to adults should not exceed 4:1 in non-program activities.
  • Children ages 8 and older are permitted to use the pool without a guardian. A swim test may be required to swim in deep water. For your safety, lifeguards are on duty at all times pools are open; their decisions are final.
  • Proper swim attire must be worn in all aquatic areas. Swim attired must be family friendly; no revealing swim suits, cotton swim attire, cutoffs, t-shirts, shorts, or other loose clothing. Children are required to wear swim diapers under snug fitting swimsuits if they are not completely toilet trained.
  • Diaper changing on the pool deck is prohibited.
  • All strollers, car seats, and street shoes must be left in the locker rooms. Mermaid tails, water wings, and other inflatable devices are NOT permitted. All flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved. The Y provides swim lesson float belts and Personal Floatation Devices for use.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco are not permitted in the pool area (plastic water bottles are OK).
  • Glass and shatterable items are prohibited in the pool area.
  • No photo or video allowed on the pool deck.
  • Shower before entering the pool and after use of toilet facilities.
  • Please lock your belongings in a locker. The Y is not responsible for personal property that has been lost, damaged, or stolen.
  • Breath-holding techniques or activities are prohibited.
  • The Y provides a basket of various pool toys to be used during open swim; please do not bring items from home.
  • Flippers and pool buoys are for circle swimmers only.
  • Profanity, running, or rough play will not be tolerated in the pool area.
  • Do not bring animals into the pool area.
  • Diving is allowed in designated areas only. Diving blocks may only be used for instructional purposes. No backward dives, flips, or splash entries.
  • Please do not sit or hang on lane lines or life lines, and keep the stair entry and exit areas clear unless entering or exiting the pool.
  • Lap swimmers must circle swim when two or more swimmers share a lane.
  • If a child is asked to perform a swim test, the child will jump into the pool, submerge, swim 25 yards front crawl in good form, followed by treading water for 30 seconds.
  • Please respect all requests made by Aquatics staff. Lifeguards have the authority to disallow any activity deemed unsafe.
  • Pool areas close 10 minutes prior to building closing.

Pool Viewing Access

  • We have designated pool viewing areas for lessons; please ask staff on duty where these are located.
  • Parents/caregivers can accompany children on deck the first day of class only; for remaining lessons, please watch from the viewing area.
  • Street clothes are permitted when accompanying your child on the pool deck, but we ask that you remove your street shoes.
  • For safety reasons, strollers and car seats are not allowed past the locker room doors.
  • We recommend that parents remain in the building while children under 8 years old are in class in case they need assistance in the bathroom or locker room.

Diving Board Policies

  • Diving Boards available at select locations.
  • Forward jumps and head-first dives are allowed into deep water.
  • No back-dives, flips, inwards, or twists.
  • Jump straight out, not to the side.
  • Wait until the people in the water are safely out of the way before entering the water.
  • No goggles, toys, flotation devices, or other items allowed when jumping off the board.

Sauna & Steam Room Policies

  • Adults ages 18 and older only.
  • Limit use to 10 minutes. Lengthy exposure may be hazardous to your health and may result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Aerobic exercise is prohibited in the sauna and steam rooms.
  • The sauna and/or steam room is not recommended immediately after intense physical activity or after whirlpool use.
  • Pregnant women and patrons with epilepsy, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, heart disease, diabetes, or high/low blood pressure should not use the sauna or steam room.
  • Appropriate swim attire must be worn at all times. Towels are not considered attire. No street shoes allowed.
  • Sweat suits are strictly prohibited.
  • Shaving, pumice, scents, oils, or washing of the body is not allowed.
  • No glass or shatterable items allowed.
  • No photo or video allowed on the pool deck.
  • Do not pour water, oil, etc. on the sauna rocks.

Water Slide Policies

  • Water Slides offered at select locations.
  • Follow the instructions of the attendant.
  • Stand single file on the slide platform to wait.
  • Only guests wearing proper swim attire may ride the slide. Cut-off jeans, swimming suits with buckles, rivets, or any sharp objects will not be permitted to be worn while sliding.
  • Pregnant women and patrons with heart conditions, neck or back problems, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to ride.
  • One rider at a time down the slide, unless a child does not meet the height criteria or needs a flotation device to swim, then an adult (16+) must ride down with the child on their lap.
  • Riders must remain in a feet first, seated or lying position while riding the slide.
  • No standing, kneeling, rotating, or stopping on the slide. Do not run up the slide.
  • Keep your hands and feet inside the slide.
  • Wait until the landing area is clear before entering the slide.
  • After entering the water, immediately use the stairs on the side of the pool to clear the area at the bottom of the slide. Do not block the end of the slide or wait for another person.
  • No toys, flotation devices or other items are allowed down the slide.
  • WARNING: Water depth is 3 feet, 6 inches. Non-swimmers are not permitted.
  • Rider must be 48″ tall in order to ride the slide.
  • A head lifeguard on duty will make final decisions on safety issues concerning pool and slide rules.

Whirlpool Policies

  • Per Wisconsin State Codes, minors under the age of 6 are NOT permitted in the whirlpool.
  • Minors age 6-13 can use the whirlpool if accompanied by an adult.
  • Ages 14+ may use the whirlpool.
  • Lengthy exposure may be hazardous to your health and may result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco are not permitted in the pool area (plastic water bottles are OK).
  • Aerobic exercise and underwater submersion are prohibited in the whirlpool.
  • The whirlpool is not recommended immediately after intense physical activity or after sauna or steam room use.
  • Persons suffering from epilepsy, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, heart disease, diabetes, or high/low blood pressure should not enter the whirlpool.
  • Pregnant women should consult their physician regarding whirlpool usage.
  • Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs may not use the whirlpool.
  • Shaving, pumice, scents, or washing of the body is not allowed.
  • No photo or video allowed on the pool deck or in the whirlpool.
  • Whirlpool temperature is maintained at 101-104 degrees Fahrenheit. Please limit use to 10 minutes.
  • Enter and exit slowly and cautiously.

Gymnasium Policies

  • No food or drink allowed in the gym. Covered water bottles only.
  • Gym bags and other personal belongings are not to be brought into the gym. Please secure your personal belongings in a locker or designated area while at the Y.
  • No dunking or grabbing on the rims or nets at any time.
  • Proper athletic attire and non-marking athletic shoes must be worn in the gym.
  • Please return all basketballs to the ball racks when finished playing.
  • No kicking or inappropriate use of equipment or balls, and keep balls away from ceiling, lights, and walls.
  • Be respectful of others by refraining from profanity, fighting, excessive yelling, unnecessary aggressiveness, and unsportsman-like conduct.
  • Full-court basketball is not permitted during open gym times.
  • All members, of any age or skill level, are allowed equal opportunity for gym use and to become involved in any activities taking place during open gym.

Indoor Track Policies

  • Members and guests aged 6-7 may use the track accompanied by an adult/caregiver (ages 16+).
  • Members and guests aged 8 and up may use the track at any time.
  • For you and your child’s protection, no strollers or car seats on the track.
  • Follow directional signage.
  • Walkers on inside lanes, runners on outside lanes.

Racquetball Policies

  • Protective eyewear is highly recommended. Check out racquets and balls at the member service desk.

Wellness Center Policies

  • Members and guests aged 7 and under are not permitted in the Wellness Center.
  • After the Family Wellness Center Orientation is completed, members and guests aged 8-10 may use the wellness center cardio machines only when accompanied by a parent/caregiver (ages 16+). An orange wristband must be worn to identify that the orientation is complete.
  • After the Youth Wellness Center Orientation is completed, members and guests aged 11-13 may use the Wellness Center excluding the free weights. A green wristband must be worn to identify that the orientation is complete.
  • Members and guests aged 14 and older may have full access to the Wellness Center.
  • Keep our Wellness Center clean. Wipe off machines and equipment with provided disinfectant wipes after each use.
  • Be courteous and mindful of others. Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated. Allow others to perform a set and work through while you are at rest. No sitting on machines for lengthy times.
  • No slamming weights. Don’t drop heavy weights or dumbbells or “bang” weights. Spotters are recommended in the free weight area.
  • Re-rack your weights. Always return equipment to the proper storage area when you are finished.
  • Be courteous when using cell phones and personal devices when in the Wellness Center. Cell phone conversations should be held in the lobby. Personal music without earbuds is not allowed. Out of the respect for other members, the use of cell phones for video or still images is strictly prohibited.
  • No food or drink allowed in the exercise areas. Covered and contained water bottles only.
  • Store extra belongings in a locker. Lock up gym bags, coats, and personal items. Lockers prevent loss and create a clean area.
  • Proper workout attire and clean shoes are required. No open-toed shoes. No sandals, flip flops, or bare feet.
  • Outside personal trainers are not permitted to train clients within the Y. The Y has personal trainers available on staff.

Locker Room Policies

  • Men’s (male 18+) and Women’s (female 18+) locker rooms are reserved for adults ages 19 and older only. For the respect and comfort of all members, children under age 18 are not allowed in adult locker rooms at any time.
  • Family Locker Rooms are for use by an adult with opposite-sex children and people with special needs only.
  • Adults with children of the same gender and anyone under age 18 are to use the appropriate Youth Male (Boys) or Youth Female (Girls) locker rooms.
  • Lockers are for daily use only. Unauthorized locks left overnight will be cut, and contents removed. Permanent lockers in the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms may be rented for a monthly fee.
  • Please lock your items in a locker. Locks are available for purchase at the Member Service Desk.
  • Cell phone and camera use of any kind is prohibited in the locker rooms.

Member Dress Code

  • Please embrace the family-friendly environment of your Y. Attire must be appropriate for the activity, adequately cover the body, and be free of any vulgar or profane writing or pictures. Swim suits are only to be worn in the pool areas. Shoes, shorts, and shirts are to be worn in other areas of the facility.

Lost & Found

  • The Y is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. The lost and found is located at the Member Service Desk. We will keep items for two weeks. If not claimed, they will be given to a local charity.

24/7 Access Policy

  • Access to Greater Green Bay YMCA Wellness Centers is available to adult YMCA members aged 18 and above.
  • Applications must be made at any Greater Green Bay YMCA location.
  • Excludes day pass holders, short-term members, AWAY, and Nationwide members.
  • Approval process typically takes 1-3 business days.
  • Monthly cost: $10, with an additional $5 per month for each additional member.

24/7 Access Security

  • Our 24/7 Wellness Centers are equipped with advanced security systems and video surveillance.
  • There is no onsite staffing during non-staffed hours; members are advised to exercise with another 24/7 member for safety.

24/7 Access Emergency and Safety Protocol

  • First Aid Kits and AEDs are accessible; in case of emergency, call 911.
  • Certain parking lot lights remain illuminated after hours; members should park in well-lit areas.
  • During inclement weather, exercise caution as snow removal may be delayed until regular business hours.

24/7 Access Code of Conduct and Guidelines

  • Our policies are grounded in YMCA values: honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility.
  • Failure to comply may result in the revocation of 24/7 access and possible termination of membership.

24/7 Access and Bar Code Use

  • Members must use their bar code for after-hours access.
  • Sharing bar codes or granting access to others is strictly prohibited and may lead to permanent loss of 24/7 access and membership termination.

24/7 Access Policy for First Responders

  • EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and first responders receive free 24/7 access.
  • Application can be made at any Green Bay YMCA location.
