Jack’s Full Circle Story at the Y

When Jack joined the YMCA’s Full Circle Summer Camp, his family hoped to find a place where he could connect, grow, and be accepted for who he is. What they found was much more, a caring community that embraced him completely.

Jack is a happy, affectionate boy who loves swimming, swinging, and boating. Though he is nonspeaking, he has a warm way of showing how he feels through gestures and smiles. His mom remembers being unsure if any summer program could meet his needs until she reached out to the Y and learned that Full Circle could.

From day one, Jack felt right at home. Staff supported him so he could take part in every activity, and other campers made sure he was included, from sitting with him on the bus to helping him during outings. Their kindness showed what community at the Y truly means.

Throughout the summer, Jack grew in confidence and connection. He began forming friendships and even tried using his voice to greet a peer. His mom shared that it was heartwarming to see him learning, smiling, and wanting to be there each day.

For Jack’s family, Full Circle offered more than just summer care. It brought peace of mind and a circle of support. “The Y staff have become part of our village,” his mom said. “It means so much to have found people who love Jack, all without words.”

Jack’s story is one of belonging, growth, and hope. It’s a reminder that at the Y, every person has a place to shine.
