Welcome to Journey to Wellness, the Downtown Edition!
The Journey to Wellness is a brand-new initiative designed to bring individuals, families, and the community together for a day of health-focused learning, support, and empowerment. This collaborative event, hosted by the Greater Green Bay YMCA and Emplify Health by Bellin, is another opportunity we’re excited to offer to help you take control of your health and well-being.
In our ‘Downtown Edition’, experience the expertise of Emplify Health by Bellin, and great downtown Green Bay resources as you embark on your well-being journey. Take advantage of expert advice, try-it exercise classes and join in on the raffle to win one of several exciting health-minded prizes.
Join us as we begin this journey, one person, one family, and one community at a time.
We’re excited to introduce a lineup of expert speakers who will share valuable insights on pain management, water fitness, and triathlon specifics. These engaging sessions will provide practical knowledge to help you make informed choices about your health. Experts will be available to answer all of your questions from how you can get started to how you can take your health and fitness to the next level.
4:00 PM: Aqua Fitness Demo Class
Always wondered what aqua exercise class is all about? This is your chance to give it a try. Or, if you have participated in these classes before, try it again with updated curriculum and a fresh perspective. Join Ana Ruf, Certified Health Coach with the Greater Green Bay YMCA, as she takes you through a total body, 30-minute water workout.
5:15 PM: Aquatic Exercise – How Can it Help Me?
Speaker: Alli Spitzer, PT, DPT, Emplify Health by Bellin
Specialty Interests: Neurologic rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, aquatics, geriatrics, and fall prevention.
Speaker: Ana Ruf, Certified Health Coach, Greater Green Bay YMCA
Specialties: Working with the YMCA Health Specialty department, engaging in Forever Well collective at the YMCA, along with leading wellness efforts at several branches within the Green Bay YMCA.
Learn the basics of aquatic exercise and how it can help increase function, reduce pain, improve sleep quality and mental health, while improving your quality of life. Gain perspective from a physical therapist and exercise instructor on the benefits of exercising in water.
6:15 PM: You Don’t Have to be Made of Iron to be a Triathlete
Speaker: Craig Congdon, CPT, USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach, Greater Green Bay YMCA
Specialties: Endurance training and programming, functional strength, motivation to stay on track with health and fitness.
Speaker: Rachel Ajack, PT, DPT, Emplify Health by Bellin
Specialty Interests: Sports medicine, outpatient Orthopedics, evidence-based management of musculoskeletal conditions, the running athlete, consultation and rehabilitation for the female athlete, and sport-specific movement retraining.
Learn the ins and outs of what it takes to train for a triathlon. You will be educated on common injuries of endurance athletes, and tips for an injury-free season. Gain the perspective of both the triathlon coach and therapist as they help get you started on your journey to becoming a triathlete or looking to take your sport to the next level.
In addition to keynote presentations, Journey to Wellness will feature a wide range of community resources and health-focused vendors.

Metal Recycling DriveJoin us for a Metal Recycling Drive on Friday, May 3, from 8:00am to 12:00pm at the West Side YMCA! Your old metal items can make a real difference in the lives of local children.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Green Bay YMCA’s School Age Childcare Annual Campaign, helping to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. Bring your recyclable metal items (see our full list of acceptable items) and be part of building a stronger, more connected community.
