Kids Camp

If your 5-10-year-old child can comfortably spend the whole day away from home, enjoys being around many other children in an urban setting, and likes being outdoors, then our full-day Kids Camp may be for them! Kids Camp also offers a Teen Leadership Program for children ages 11 and up.

Camp activities may include crafts, team building, hikes, nature exploration, small and large group games, archery, skits, songs, and more.

Kids Camp takes place at the West Side YMCA in Howard, WI.

Camp Fees

Everybody belongs at Y Camp. The YMCA provides membership and program services to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Financial assistance is made possible through a variety of grants, as well as through contributions to the YMCA's Annual Campaign. Please contact the Kids Camp Director for more information.

Teen Leadership Program

Spend a week learning leadership skills and techniques as a Junior Counselor (JC). During your week as a JC, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our counselors. Your journey in the JC program will include how to lead a group of campers, teach arts & crafts and games, and how to work in a group with your fellow JCs. If you decide to join us for more than one week of the program, you’ll build upon your leadership skills by taking on a more active role and work side by side with our counselors.

Can my child register with a friend?

Yes! You can make a buddy request when you register.

Can my child attend more than one week of camp?

Of course! It's very common for us to see kids more than once during the summer. In that case, we try to place you camper with different counselors throughout the summer while they enjoy new groups of kids each week. Weekly themes keep things exciting, too.

What does my child need to bring with them to camp?

The recommended daily packing list includes a healthy bag lunch, a water bottle, sturdy shoes (flip flops are not suitable for active play), swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and bug spray. Please dress according to the weather and label all items with the child's name. Kids' Camp provides a morning and afternoon snack each day. Please be sure to read the Kids' Camp Handbook.

What additional forms does my child need on file prior to starting their first day of camp?

You child will need a 2023 Health Form on file in the Kids' Camp office prior to their first day of camp

What if my child requires medication while at camp?

All medication that will accompany you child to camp needs to be in its original container and the 2023 Medication Authorization Form must be completed.
