A new Community Wellness Director has been hired at the Greater Green Bay YMCA. Katie Mandell was selected from a strong pool of applicants and began this role on June 14, 2021.

Mandell is a Registered Dietitian and has a Graduate Certificate in Dietetics with a concentration in Public Affairs from Missouri State University. With eight years of experience in the community and corporate health sectors, Mandell places exceptional emphasis on her desire to cultivate empowering relationships within the community. 

Mandell has demonstrated excellent initiative in her previous roles, having accomplished projects and endeavors such as:

•    Acting as a Culture Ambassador and member of the Culture Education Committee.
•    Working with community schools and implementing the construction of a community garden to deliver educational opportunities for students.
•    Encouraging community engagement through nutrition presentations for local businesses, health fairs, food expos and other in-store events including nutrition focused grocery store tours for local community organizations. 

“In the wake of this pandemic, keeping our community healthy is our top priority and health and wellness is now an essential service,” said Senior Healthy Living Director, Eric Gorder,  “Katie will look to enhance our Health Intervention programming such as LIVEStrong, Exercising with Parkinson’s and look to bring such programs as Diabetes Prevention as well as Fall Prevention and Arthritis Programming. Katie was a unanimous choice for this role and the Greater Green Bay YMCA is excited at this opportunity.”

Mandell said she is honored to join the Greater Green Bay YMCA family, “I look forward to immersing myself in the community as part of an organization dedicated to supporting the holistic health needs of the residents of Greater Green Bay,” Mandell said.
